Swarm launchers do 300 damage per missile. All swarm launchers. The primary difference is that militia and tier one swarms launch four missiles per shot. After that, they get into firing five or six per shot. The only damage increase swarms get, skill wise, that I've been able to find is from the weaponry skill. Everything else is about increased range, blast radius, and splash damage. The only way I know to increase damage after weaponry 5, which I have, is to use a heavy damage enhancer module.
IMO... Dropships should not be able to outrun swarms. Skilled pilots should be able to outmaneuver swarms. |

Actually I have seen dropships and LAVs outmaneuver my swarm packs on more than one occasion, so the above point doesn't hold water with me.
Sin3 DeusNomine wrote:The second problem is that everyone and there mother has a millitant swarm fit. you have whole teams turn to swarmers means even the best pilots can not evade the mass of swarms from free fits. Swarms fly around buildings and pull 90 degree turns like it was yesterdays buisness. They follow you around buildings with no trouble.
Smart weapons. Target leaves visual you go to where the target was. If LOS lock is acquired before reaching the destination, or upon reaching the destination, redirect. It's possible even with some of our current munitions. Even so, SWARMS do love to follow their target even when the target passes closely in front of the swarmer.
Sin3 DeusNomine wrote:You make swarms faster then dropships all of a sudden you will make the dropship extinct. There are currently many counters besides just swarms out there for against dropships. You have rail turrets, forge guns, blaster turrets and small missile turrets on tanks and LAVs other dropships. There is plenty to counters out there. With forge guns and rail intliations/tanks are very very deadly against most pilots that do not know how to best counter or keep there eyes open for such threats.
Then the pilots will have to learn like everyone else.

The problem with this thought if you are looking to keep swarms nearly useless against dropship pilots that don't know to keep moving when they see swarms, is that a direct flight path could possibly make it easier for a skilled swarmer to tag incoming dropships. LAVs and tanks would definitely have a harder time of it than they do now even if they don't realize it. And I have had tanks scrub my swarms by moving back behind a hill side.
Sin3 DeusNomine wrote:Dropships are already victims of many nerfs and suffer grately to forge guns and having a forced ceiling height. they do not need to become the object of uber nerf because a few noobs with millitant swarms can not kill them. And it is only once every 20+ matches they ever see a dropship in the air capable of actually controlling the field.
I also love how people say swarms are useless. I am guessing anyone who says that runs millitant swarms only. Proto swarms are the fastest way to take out any vehicle. Last build I use to run a forge and everyonce in awhile I would run into a tank that could handle my proto forge gun shots and either run or kill me first. When that happened I would take out my proto swarms and pop them within seconds because I could hit just over 3.3k a volley. where forge only about 1.9k if your skilled out right and using correct mods. So do not tell me swarms are useless against tanks and LAVs. If you spec out in them they are alot better then forge guns and are easy to use compared to forge.
The only way to increase damage per missile is with the heavy damage enhancers. Otherwise the only difference is that the proto fires 6 missiles, if I remember right, rather than the 4. The damage is still 300 per missile. Though yes, I do admit that they are very easy to use, they're just not as awesome as non SWARMers might think.
